The Southern Nevada Law Enforcement Memorial Foundation Wall was created to recognize those that have served in the Southern Nevada Law Enforcement Community. The Wall is a solemn site that was built and is maintained to honor the memory of those Southern Nevada Law Enforcement personnel and support staff who have passed on through this life.
The Memorial walkway was dedicated in 2009 in the Police Memorial Park, which is adjacent to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Training Bureau and Academy. Each officer killed in the line of duty is honored with a boulder and bronze plaque engraved with their name, agency and date of incident. A tree is also planted next to each boulder along a lighted walkway.
Nevada is a very large state with two areas of major population, Las Vegas in the south and Reno in the north, with vast open land and small communities in between. The statewide police memorial is located in Carson City, in the northern part of our state. Police Memorial Park allows our southern Nevada families a sacred place to pay their respects to the officers who've courageously served our local community.
Police Memorial Park is located in the city of Las Vegas and includes several areas honoring and commemorating those in Southern Nevada Law Enforcement. In addition, the park is home to a monument dedicated to NYPD police officers who lost their lives responding to the September 11, 2001, terror attacks and a large boulder with bronze stars engraved with the names of officers killed in the line of duty which was originally at Las Vegas City Hall.
The artist who designed and built the memorial is Aldolfo Gonzalez. The Memorial is located at 3250 Metro Academy Way in the western part of the Las Vegas valley at Police Memorial Park, near Cheyenne Avenue and Hualapai Way. It was completed on May 2, 2009.
