Incident Details:

Officer Austin Abdelnabi joined the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department on November 28, 2023, after earning a criminal justice degree from Clemson University. Before that, he served four years with the U.S. Marine Corps, deploying overseas twice. Officer Abdelnabi was assigned to the Southeast Area Command in the Community Safety Division. Officer Abdelnabi was remembered for his compassionate nature and his infectious smile. He was shot and killed responding to a person with a gun call. He is survived by his wife, Sage, his parents and three siblings.

Incident Details:

Officer Jason Roscow was shot and killed while responding to a report of a subject brandishing a gun at a resident near the 4700 block of High Creek in North Las Vegas around 2:15 p.m.

When Officer Roscow attempted to make contact with the subject, the man ignored him and fled. After locating the man, the subject refused commands and fired at Officer Roscow. Officer Roscow returned fire, killing the subject.

Officer Roscow was transported to University Medical Center where he succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds.

Officer Roscow was a United States Air Force veteran and had served with the North Las Vegas Police Department for 17 years. He is survived by two sons.

Incident Details:

Sgt. Michael Abbate and Trooper Alberto Felix were fatally struck by a hit-and-run driver while they assisted a motorist who had pulled off to the side of the freeway and fallen asleep at the wheel early Thursday morning. 

The suspect, later identified by authorities as Jemarcus Williams, was booked at the Clark County Detention Center on two counts each of reckless driving resulting in death, DUI resulting in death and “duty to stop at the scene of an accident involving death,” police said.

Felix, a veteran of the United States Air Force, had been with state police since 2019, the department said. Abbate had been with the department since 2013 and in November was promoted to sergeant, officials said.
